I have received some comments and ideas from Zsolt Schuller of Cycle Exeter on initiatives that might be appropriate for the shared pathway through Hoopern Valley Way.For starters, some of the "Please consider other path user signs" might be place at the entrances at either end of the route.
They may also consider removing out the segregation line, as the pathway doesn't appear to conform with Sustrans guidelines for shared pathways.
He also suggests working with PCSO's to give out the Road Code developed by St Peter's C of E School and bike bells on the route.
In addition, we must get cyclist to read and adhere to the Good Cycling Code issued by Sustrans.

As a Sustrans Voluntary Ranger I'm delighted to see you highlight our work.
When riding on roads cyclists find it frightening if drivers fail to leave enough room for us as they zoom past instead of overtaking properly.
So I think when we're off the road on shared paths we should be aware that to a walker we're just as frightening to them as fast, too-close vehicles are to us.
Walking and cycling on shared paths can be a friendly and relaxed experience if everyone understands each others' point of view and is considerate.
As a cyclist, the consideration I would hope for from walkers is that they keep any dogs under control on their leash when on the shared paths.
Sustrans' campaigns include working for more and better facilities for both walkers and cyclists. Good wishes Paul, in your aims to help us all get along pleasantly together.
